Andreas Hotz is honoured to make his debut with The Greek Passion by Martinů at Den Jyske Opera, Århus, Denmark with three performances.
Martinů’s The Greek Passion — an opera about a refugee crisis and the relevance of Christian values — is the most topical opera of our time. Forgotten for decades, The Greek Passion is now being staged around the world, proving once again that the opera genre can help ask the most difficult questions. In Danish National Opera’s production, Martinů’s overwhelming music, with its stunningly large choral elements, will also include real refugees, challenging the boundaries between fact and fiction.
